The existence of Pura Pakulaman as the Duchy Palace can not be separated from the history of the Sultanate Ngayogyakarta. History of establishment in Yogyakarta Pura Pakualaman began when Herman Willem Daendels appointed as Governor-General in the Dutch East Indies in 1808-1811 AD To reinforce his power, he ruled then appoint his representative in the Sultanate of Yogyakarta. The architecture created by KGPAA Pakualaman Pura Paku Alam I, which is expert in the field of architecture, culture, and literature. Its position overlooking the south symbolizes respect for the Sultan Palace. Today, the palace which was founded in the early 19th century, it became the residence of Sri Paduka Paku Alam IX, Vice Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), which is a single bi Governor of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X.
In addition to Sultan Palace, Temple Pakualaman is one of the cultural heritage in the city of Yogyakarta. In the first room there is a list of genealogy or family structure, which explains that KGPA Paku Alam I is the son of Sultan Hamengkubuwono I and also the descendants of King UB V (King of the Kingdom of Majapahit). In addition to the family genealogy list, in this room also displays photographs of Sri Paku Alam II to Sri Paku Alam VIII in large sizes. Tourists can also see a collection of horse-drawn carriage that was placed specifically in the third room. Pakualaman Temple is located on Jl. Sultan Agung, Kecamatan Pakualaman, the city of Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta, Indonesia 55 122.
